Position: Water Plant Operator Trainee

Pay Range: $40,000-$60,000

The Island Water Association, Inc., a member-owned water utility serving the islands of Sanibel and Captiva, Florida, is now accepting applications for a Water Plant Operator Trainee. This position will be trained to perform maintenance and operation of the treatment plant, lab testing, and completion of regulatory logs and reports to ensure the delivery of safe potable water. The position requires rotating shift work, weekend and holidays and the ability to work and make decisions independently.

The ideal candidate is hard-working, dependable, enjoys hands-on mechanical work and process analysis. Background in electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems is preferred, however all safety-minded candidates that exhibit initiative and attention to detail are encouraged to apply.

Candidates must have a valid Florida driver’s license, high school diploma or equivalent. Successful candidate must achieve a Class C Drinking Water License from the State of Florida within 36 months of hire. Pre-employment physical, background check, and drug screening required.

Position: Maintenance Technician

Pay Range: $40,000-$60,000

The Island Water Association, Inc., a member-owned water utility serving the islands of Sanibel and Captiva, Florida, is now accepting applications for a Maintenance Technician. This position works under the supervision of department management in mechanical, vehicle and grounds maintenance and repair. The position requires experience and proficiency in the safe operation of power machinery, including chain saws, mowers, weed eaters, and trimmers. The successful candidate will have experience in landscape and groundskeeping, automotive maintenance and repair.

The ideal candidate is hard-working, dependable, safety-minded, and capable of working and making decisions independently. Candidates must have a valid Florida driver’s license, and high school diploma or equivalent. General plumbing, carpentry, and basic handyman skills are a plus. Pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screening required.

The tasks assigned to the position are generally performed outside, subject to weather conditions and uneven terrain. The position requires physical exertion, including walking, standing, stooping, climbing, crawling, lifting, ladder work, and unassisted lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling objects up to 50 pounds.
